So you've been lured in by the long, hilly roads and scenic ride routes? Here's what you need to know if you'll be making the trip in to Clearfield, PA.
This is a hilly location. There aren't any huge mountains, but the hills are everywhere, with a number of climbs in the 2-3 mile range (at about 5-8% grades.) If you're coming from a flat region, be sure to have some low gears! (And be prepared for steep, twisty downhills!)
It's also pretty desolate in some places (i.e. no bike shops and no cell phone signal.) That's what makes the riding great, but be sure you know how to fix a flat tire if you're venturing out on a long ride.
The nice thing is that Clearfield is right off of Interstate 80. Just take Exit 120 off of I-80 and head down Route 879. For more details, just put our zip code (16830) into Google Maps.
You can find a number of motels (Days Inn, Super 8, etc) along Route 879 near I-80. For normal lodging, that is probably your best bet. If you want a better feel for Clearfield and want to stay downtown, take a look at the Victorian Loft, Christopher Kratzer House, or the Road Less Traveled Bed & Breakfast.
There are a variety of places to eat in and around downtown Clearfield. Stroll through town and you'll find Hedges, Daniel's, Moena's, or other fine dining. You could also venture out to Dennys Beer Barrel Pub, home to a huge hamburger. Also, be sure to visit Sheetz if you've never been to one. They are amazing!

This area is lacking in actual bike shops. We have Jim's Sports Center, which has a small bike section. The nice bike shops are about an hour away.
